During the global Covid-19 pandemic, the digitalization process has gained momentum in many areas, particularly in education. In this process where awareness of online learning has increased, the importance of the Speak English MOOC – English Language MOOC to Improve Speaking Skills Project, coordinated by Bartın University in partnership with Eskisehir Anadolu University, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid from Spain and BEST Institut für berufsbezogene Weiterbildung und Personaltraining GmbH from Austria, has been understood once again. The activities of the project, which aims to provide the opportunity to improve foreign language speaking skills on a free platform when completed, have been in progress during this period.
In addition to the ongoing project activities, the project was presented in two online conferences. At IBAD-2020 E-Conference, the poster of the project was presented, and delivered via e-mail to all participants of the conference, where approximately 250 articles were presented. At the Pixel Conference, which was also held online, the needs analysis results were presented to the participants after the project was briefly introduced. Among the published conference papers, the presented paper of the project was also included.
Within the scope of the project activities, a pilot study was conducted with volunteer participants from the target group after the content developed within the project was uploaded to the online platform. Following the piloting, necessary revisions were made in line with the opinions of the participants, and the content together with the online platform were finalized. The platform will be publicly available soon.
